Our story…
When Anna and Courtney both moved to Madrid six years ago, they quickly realised how challenging it could be to start fresh in a new country – especially with young children and a language barrier. From navigating school options to finding trusted doctors, the transition was not easy.
That’s why The Cora Collective was born. To help others in the same position transition smoothly, confidently, and with a little less stress.
Together, Anna and Courtney understand the ups and downs of relocating with a family. Their shared experience is at the heart of The Cora Collective, and they’re passionate about helping other families feel just as at home in Madrid as they do.
The Founders
Anna Wicks
Born and raised in Jersey, Channel Islands, Anna spent time living in France before moving to London, where she lived for 17 years. She arrived in Madrid just before the pandemic hit, accompanied by her husband and two little ones, aged two and five. Though the timing posed unexpected challenges, a network of friends-of-friends and warm welcomes at the school gates made the transition smoother than anticipated. Anna and her family have firmly put down roots Madrid, having purchased and renovated a family home. They continue to host a busy steady flow of friends and family, showing them the best of life in Madrid.
Courtney Bousfield
Courtney, a Canadian expat, has lived in London, Singapore, and now Madrid. She spent a decade in Singapore, where her first two daughters were born, before relocating to Madrid with an 8-month-old and a 3-year-old. Arriving without Spanish and with no local network, the transition was not without its challenges. However, a chance introduction to a friend-of-a-friend marked a turning point, helping her to build a strong community and settle into life in the city. Now a mother of three, Courtney and her family are firmly rooted in Madrid and look forward to calling it home for many years to come. They enjoy making the most of the city and sharing their favourite spots with visiting friends and family.
